We’ve been working toward this day all throughout Lent, and now it’s here. We will celebrate Christ’s resurrection, as rightly we should. But the cleansing effect of Lenten sacrifice can stay with us for however long we choose to remember it. We can continually return to those healing waters as we begin this new holy season of Easter.
I’ve spent the past 40 days
in the desert of Lent with you.
I’ve tried to absorb
the transformative power of this time
as best as I can.
There were times when I,
like the Apostles in the Garden of Gethsemane,
fell asleep spiritually
only to awaken and be reminded
of your suffering and sacrifice.
you are alive and awake
in my heart,
I lift this prayer up to you
with profound joy and gratitude.
Don’t leave what you learned this Lent behind. Consider journaling throughout the Easter season about how you grew during Lent and how you might continue to do so.
