Reflect
John XXIII (1881-1963) brought a loving God everywhere he went—from his childhood on an Italian farm, through his days as an army stretcher bearer, to his time as pope. He poked fun at his weight and displayed humility and trust to show people God was there for everyone.
Pray
Saint John XXIII,
your humor helped win souls
for Christ.
Help me to be humble
and give the glory to God
rather than attempting to set myself up
as an example or expert.
Act
Consider your private prejudices, whether they be tied to race, gender, age, or ability. Pray for the wisdom to see what God sees in “those people.”
