When St. Francis of Assisi returned home from war, several moments led to a life-changing conversion. One of which involved his time spent with lepers outside the city. What once repulsed him suddenly became a source of great love and humility. Could we be so bold as to see Christ in those on the periphery?
God of wonder,
You disguised yourself as an outcast
and embraced Brother Francis.
And from there your humble servant changed the world.
Grant me patience that I may not turn away
from those on the outside looking in.
Give me eyes to see your face in those
who are no less your children than I am.
Christ laid the groundwork. St. Francis walked the path. Let’s do our part today: Volunteer, donate, or simply pray for organizations that promote peace and justice.
