In the cacophony of the world’s troubles, it can be difficult to find quiet. Have you ever felt that by going within, you are leaving behind the world when it needs you? Consider how useful it is to the world to quiet yourself with prayer.
Today let me turn from this bruised world and find the path to peace within.
Let me leave behind deafening sirens of suffering.
Help me remember going inward is not abandoning the pain of hurt people.
It’s knowing that I need to find that airy place—a sunlit walkway—
where I can carry peace back out into the world.
Help me to go inside and to find peace.
Help me take its first steps.
Today take time to go within. Think of the words of Jesus in John 14:27: “Peace I leave you; my peace I give you.” Know that your finding peace helps the world.
