Social activist Angela Davis counseled, “Let me change the things I cannot accept.” Some things are unacceptable, and we need—with the Hebraic prophets—to challenge them. Wherever there is pain and injustice let me be an instrument of peace and justice.

Pray

God, make me an instrument of creative transformation.
Where I see injustice, let me speak prophetically.
Where I see destruction, let me be your companion in mending the world.
Where I see people forgotten, let me act on their behalf.
Grant me a large and loving spirit.
Let your peace inspire discontent with all that hurts your children.
Amen.

Take time to explore what troubles you in the world, and ask God to guide your response to the things you cannot accept.
