Being Lonely/Being Alone

Evergreen branch with red berries

The holidays are a time of joy for many. For those who are alone, however, it can simply be a season to endure. Don’t take it for granted. Count your blessings while saying this prayer for those who are struggling.

Loving God, I know the world can be a cold place for those who are alone.
As we read in 2 Timothy 4:17, “the Lord stood by me and gave me strength.”
Let me be a source of strength for those who are lonely.
Let this humble prayer find them and lift them up to a place of peace.
In this season of good will, let their fears give way to the reassurance
that your love is their constant companion.

Share this prayer with somebody who struggles with isolation during the holidays. Remind them that no loneliness can withstand the tireless love of God.

  1. As I think about this subject of loneliness and my own memories of having been alone, I try to remember how I dealt with those experiences. But yet, having dealt with those experiences is part of life and growing up. One can also be with people that love you but yet you still feel alone due to not being with one’s own peer group or being in the wrong place. So, not being happy at a particular time can be complicated. But yet, learning how to be happy involves a certain amount of knowledge, I think. As of now, when I think about all of my positive memories, those very same memories sustain me. Thank God for those all of those positive memories and positive/good people. Thank God for my loving parents. They really wished the best for me. Someday we’ll be together again. Love matters!
